Guests say

Bwthyn Y Bugail (Shepherd's Cottage) is highly praised for its stunning views, spacious and comfortable accommodation, and excellent facilities including a hot tub and games room. Guests appreciate the friendly and helpful host, Huw, and the property's suitability for large family gatherings. While most feedback is positive, some guests noted minor issues with cleanliness and maintenance.

The property generally receives high marks for cleanliness, with guests describing it as immaculate and exceptionally clean. However, a few guests noted areas that could be improved, such as dust and cobwebs in less visible places, suggesting room for more thorough cleaning.

The location is celebrated for its beautiful views and peaceful setting, ideal for a relaxing getaway. It is remote, which is perfect for some guests, though it requires driving to access shops and local attractions. The scenic surroundings contribute to a positive experience.

Comfort is a standout feature, with guests consistently mentioning the spacious rooms, high-quality furnishings, and comfortable beds. The property caters well to large groups, offering en-suite bathrooms and ample space for relaxation.

Facilities like the hot tub, games room, and child-friendly playground are highlights for many guests. Some minor issues were reported, such as problems with the pool table and dartboard, and suggestions for improvements in the kitchen equipment. The host's responsiveness to issues is noted positively.

While guests have mentioned a welcome box with Christmas goodies and the provision of robes, there is not enough consistent information across reviews to assess the overall thoughtfulness in terms of gifts. Therefore, it cannot be guaranteed that such amenities will always be provided.

Couple small maintenance issues reported but nothing that would spoil our trip.

The views are stunning too especially from the hot tub. We will return one day and will recommend it to family and friends. Thank you.

But when things go badly wrong it’s a different story. We arrived on Friday 6/12/24. Followed on the Saturday by storm Darragh. Electric off all weekend. No support offered by owner other than 12 tealight candles and a few logs which caused a lot of smoke. All weekend freezing, no light, no hot water, so couldn’t shower etc . no heat or cooking facilities. Couldn’t leave due to advice not to travel. No signal or WiFi so could only contact owner who lived nearby. Electric came back on Monday night but the smoke/carbon monoxide alarm woke us at 2am the house was full of fumes which was very concerning, thankfully no children or old people in the property, we had to switch off the boiler and open all the doors so freezing again. We felt very unsafe. When we asked about any sort of refund we were told no… as the storm was not Huws fault … not given even the price for the cups of tea we couldn’t make or for any of the electric or gas we couldn’t use….or the genuine distress when the alarms were going off for over half an hour…. .and as for Sykes…hand washing all around… our advice is book with someone else as we will be doing in future.
